A speech-language screening entails informally assessing a child's articulation, fluency, voice, and language and hearing skills to determine if there is a need for further evaluation. Your child may need a speech-language screening if you have concerns regarding the above mentioned areas or is not performing speaking and listening tasks that are typical for individuals their age.
Speech/language evaluations are conducted in the client’s home or school using standardized and informal measures as appropriate. Evaluations encompass assessment of all communication skills (expressive/receptive language, articulation, pragmatics, fluency, and voice). Results of the evaluation provide a guide for addressing the child's needs. This information is outlined in a formal report with speech and language goals, if approrpriate.
Sessions are 30, 45, or 60 minutes long, depending on the client's profiles and needs. Sessions are individualized to meet the needs of the student and the family. Sessions are academically, culturally, and socially relevant for the client.
