Lead Speech Therapist
Chanelle Davis, M.S., CCC-SLP
Chanelle Davis is the owner and lead therapist of Davis Speech and Language Services (DSLS). She obtained both her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and her bachelor's degree in English from Howard University. Her interests include childhood speech and language disorders. She is a member of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a certificate of clinical competence from ASHA. She is also licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and a member of the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA).
Chanelle has evaluated and treated articulation disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, stuttering, voice disorders and pragmatic disorders both in typically developing children and children with autism, developmental delay, and children who are emotionally disturbed at the following locations:

Chanelle has completed additional training in the following:
- Orton-Gillingham's The Classroom Educator Course provides the skills to teach reading and writing skills using a structured, simultaneously multisensory, evidence-based approach at the whole class or small group level, addressing reading acquisition in all learners, inluding dyslexic learner, the principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach, and knowledge of structure of the English language. Teachers learn to design and implement Orton-Gillingham based lessons involving phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and handwriting
- Lindamood-Bell's "Visualizing and Verbalizing" and "Seeing Stars" programs which address listening and reading comprehension difficulties as well as pre-literacy skills and decoding.
- Introduction to P.R.O.M.P.T. Technique which provides the skills for using tactile-kinesthetic input while integrating therapy holistically to remediate speech sound disorders, an evidence-based approach to speech therapy.
- Picture Communication Exchange System (PECS) Levels 1-3, a unique, evidence-based alternative/augmentative communication system based in applied behavioral analysis which can facilitate independent verbal communication
- An Introduction to DIR®
and DIRFloortime® (Floortime), an introductory course that reviews the theoretical framework, scientific evidence, and scope of application of the model promoting functional emotional developmental capacities, reflective thinking, and overall mental health for all children and adults, including those with special needs
